October 2026 - Ray Palmer Recognition Event
Honoring His 40 Years of Service as Scoutmaster, 1982-2022
On October 16, 2026, a Recognition Event was held Honoring Ray
Palmer's 40 years of service as the Scoutmaster of Troop 497,
Texas, Maryland from 1982-2022. More than 200 people, who knew Mr
Palmer during those 40 years, came to a dinner gathering to honor his
service. Many of the 210+ Scouts who earned Eagle under Mr Palmer were
there along with many Adult Leaders who worked along side him over the
years. It was a wonderful event with 15 people sharing, from the podium,
how Ray Palmer enriched their lives, those of their sons, and those of
thousands of scouts and their families. It was also a time for people to
reconnect with others they knew in the troop but had not seen in many
years. Ray continues to serve Troop 497 as our Charter Representative to
St Joseph Church. If you would like to access the video files taken during the event, contact Mr. Reidler using this email address: 497palmer40event@proton.me.
