May 2026 - Antietam Creek Canoeing Sharpsburg, MD

On 15-17 May we camped at the Antietam Creek Campground in sites 9-14. We arranged with Eagle Aquatics, Inc for the canoes and guides for the trip. We had 31 Scouts and 13 Adults paddle down Antietam Creek. We put in at the public launch site just downstream for the Burnside Bridge (Molly's Hole) and took out just about the Harpers Ferry Road Bridge on river right for about a 6.5 mile float. The gauge reported the creek level at about 2.48.

The weather cooperated for our trip with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's. Overnight temps were around 46°F and around 60°F on Sunday morning. We held our Sunday Scouts Own Service on the Antietam Battlefield Site. Everyone seems to have a lot fun on the river and improved their paddling skills throughout the day.
