January 2024 - Camp Tuckahoe, Dillsburg, PA

Our January 2024 camping trip was to Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg, PA on the the 12-14 January. The main activity for the weekend was Invention Convention. The main challenge was to construct a device, from a collection of objects the Seniors put into a box, that could propel a tennis ball the furthest and hit or land in a fire pit. The ball could not be propelled directly by the Scouts. Most of the devices were variations of slingshots and crossbows. A simultaneous competition took place in the afternoon to determine the winners.

It was raining hard when we arrived and continued to rain fairly steadily until around 0400 on Saturday morning. We camped in two wood stove heated cabins: Holly (40) and Cedar (28) and tent site Cayuga. The temperature dipped to 38°F on Saturday morning. The wind picked up during the day and into the night resulting in a low temperature Sunday morning of 19°F and light, intermittent snow.
