November 2023 - Backpacking Along the Appalachian Trail South of Pine Grove Furnace

We camped Friday night in the Piney Mountain camping area. We left the campsite about 0800 on Saturday morning. The long hikers started hiking south along the Appalachian Trail to our Saturday camp sites near the trail. The long hike was about 11.3 miles. We started out with everyone together and later split into two groups: one kept a more aggressive pace and the other a more relaxed pace. The short hikers were shuttle to a put in spot along the ridge that left them about 5.6 miles of hiking. We had dinner and a campfire before heading for out tents. On Sunday morning we all hiked out about 2.8 miles.
