April 2021 - Susquehannock State Park Camping
This was our first entire Troop camping trip since our backpacking weekend in March of 2020 and what a camping weekend it was. We broke attendance records for a weekend trip. Participating in the weekend were 107 Scouts, Webelos guests, and adults. We made some changes for Covid-19 safety. Parents had to transport their sons to and from the Susquehannock SP and many of the dads decided to join us for the weekend. Forty-three cars were in the parking lot on Saturday morning. Only immediate family members could tent together so many of us tented alone or with their sons or brothers. In all 77 tents filled our campsites with a very different look since many of the tents were personal tents. The theme for the weekend was Senior Surprise, a patrol based competition weekend in which Scouts compete in Scout skills and other fun challenges. Saturday quickly warmed up and became a mostly sunny day which was perfect for these events. After dinner we had a few sprinkles and then after we were in our tents for the night it rained, sometimes quite hard. We woke to a few sprinkles which ended around 8 AM and then the sun came out again.
