October 2020 - Second Virtual Camping Trip of 2020

Our October 2020 Camping Trip was Troop 497's second virtual camping trip! The Covid-19 Pandemic continued to force us to cancel large group camping trips. So we encouraged everyone to camp in their yards. We held an online meeting on Saturday, 24 June at 1 PM to kick off the event and for everyone participating to meet and briefly chat. Scouts were encourage to cook dinner for the families or assist with the cooking. We met online again at 7:30 PM to get updates and have a virtual campfire. The Seniors had put together a program for the camping trip that included many activities the Scouts could do to earn points. Since we won't have an opportunity to earn Texas Tough Points the traditional way this winter, the points earned by the Scouts are going towards Texas Tough pins. We met again briefly on Sunday morning for a Scout's Own Service and heard from many participants that they had a fun camping experience.
