February 2020 - Rodney Scout Reservation, North East, Maryland

Our February camping trip was back to Rodney Scout Reservation in North East, Maryland. However, we were in different cabins, Minsi and Shawnee, for the first time. These are larger cabins providing us with more room, Shawnee has 40 bunks and Minsi has 22 bunks. We were joined by 16 Webelos from 3 packs and 11 of their parents and leaders. They camp in Minsi. The 43 Scouts from the Troop camped in Shawnee, or in the trailer while most of the adults camped in tents while a few slept in Shawnee. In total, we had 93 people camping for at least part of the weekend. That makes this trip one of the most, if not the most, well attended weekend trip in many years.

It rained for several days before our trip but fortunately cleared up on Friday before we left when a front came through bringing with several tornadoes to Maryland including one in Cecil County. It was windy early Friday evening then died down by the time we went to bed. The temperature dropped to 30°F on Saturday morning and 25°F on Sunday morning.

The major event for Saturday was a Murder Mystery competition. The Webelos joined in the fun by participating with different patrols. Saturday evening was capped off by an indoor campfire program.
